A retired Anglican priest and OSMTH Vicar General Emeritus, Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, got a big drive-by surprise for his 90th birthday on Monday.

Parishioners from Church of the Ascension at 1385 University Avenue West lined up in their vehicles to wish Matthewman a happy birthday at around 5 p.m., much to his surprise.

Original plans were to have a huge family reunion for his with birthday with about 20 family members coming in from all over but the plan changed to a virtual family reunion plus this drive by organized by his daughter Gillian.

At the beginning of June, VGE Ron notified OSMTH that he would no longer be preparing and distributing his Saturday Prayers, an OSMTH staple for many years. His prayers are in the OSMTH Archive and several years are available to members on the OSMTH member side of the website.

Stepping into the void will be Vicar General Pertti Ruotsalo (see sidebar).
