Grand Master Message
COL David N. Appleby
Grand Master IV OSMTH
Greetings from the middle of America where life is getting a little more normal, but still many restrictions apply to our daily lives. I hope your lives are getting a little more normal too. I am aware of only two of our brothers who have had COVID-19, but I realize there may be others. In any event, we are thankful for the recovery of all our brothers and sisters who have had this virus and pray for the safety of all of you.
Of course, the cancellation of our Helsinki meeting was disappointing but necessary. Not only do we have business to conduct, but we miss being in the company of one another. Also disappointing was the cancellation of the planned trip by Fr. Pertti Routsalo and me to Jerusalem and Jordan, hosted by Bishop Munib Younan. I think we all look forward to meeting in Sofia next Spring, and Fr. Pertti and I look forward to rescheduling our fact finding and coordination trip to the Holy Land.
I want to express a special thank you to Fr. Pertti, by the way. His effort to provide us all with a Prayer Service each week on Facebook is greatly appreciated and has kept us together in these trying times. I hope each of you has had the opportunity to share in this.
Another thank you to Fr. Pertti for having now completed, with the help of Bishop Munib, our Prayer Book. This was a monumental task! It will soon be published and available for purchase-information should soon be available about advance purchases, which will really help us.
Congratulations to our wonderful brother Ron Matthewman on reaching age 90! And we thank him for decades of “Saturday Prayers”.
Thanks to all of you for what you do for our Order. You have done a great job of continuing our work even in these trying times.
NNDNN
Fraternally yours,
Non Nobis, Domine, Non Nobis, Sed Nomini Tuo Da Gloriam
