A Message from the Grand Commander

Fellow Templars,
Plans have continued in recent months for our GMC to be held in Zagreb, Croatia in October. What an exciting return to our normal pattern of international meetings! I am looking forward to seeing so many of you, and I hear on the grapevine that many have already booked their flights in anticipation of a good turnout of knights, dames and Chaplains.
Zagreb brings me such happy memories, as it was in Zagreb that I first took my seat as grand prior of England and Wales (as was then). To represent my home grand priory was a daunting task as I had only attended one previously which was Toronto 2010. I need not have worried as I was welcomed most warmly by members of the Magisterium and my fellow grand priors. When we meet in a few months, there will be some new faces around the GMC tables as recent weeks have seen elections in several grand priories, and we have said thank you and farewell to many long serving, hard working grand priors. One of the great strengths within “our” OSMTH is the peaceful and democratic passing of our senior officers within OSMTH and more importantly our national grand priories. Reading around the Web, we can see many chivalric orders run into serious trouble when their senior leaders are replaced. I am glad that we are such a mature organisation that we do not face splits or harbour resentment. Our grand priors work extremely well together, and this is one of our greatest strengths.
For those of you reading this who have recently changed grand priors, I encourage you to keep your former leader in your daily prayers, and also think about your new leader taking their first steps onto the international floor. I am sure they will do very well.
Keep well, keep safe.
nnDnn,
George MacLean GCSG GCTJ
