OSMTH Charitable Donations: Pro Terra Sancta (PTS)
Simon LeFevre, Almoner General
For certain projects, FHL works in partnership with the Association Pro Terra Sancta (PTS), which is a prominent non-governmental organisation, headquartered in Italy. The mission of Pro Terra Santa is to foster bonds between the Holy Land and the world. PTS is a non-profit organization that carries out projects to preserve the Holy Places, support local communities, and bring aid in humanitarian emergencies.
PTS is present in the Middle East, wherever the Franciscan Friars of the Custody of the Holy Land are to be found. OSMTH is conscious of the historic links between the Order of Knights Templar and the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor in the medieval period. As a modern organisation, OSMTH is most grateful for our various working relationships with today’s Franciscan Orders around the world.
The 2,000 Euro donation from OSMTH to the Friends of the Holy Land is being used in the following ways:
- 1,000 Euros to support short-term vocational training courses, and other actions, which improve the employment prospects of the young and the unemployed; and
- 1,000 Euros to support the joint FHL/PTS project to assist the poorest families by repairing and replacing local water supply networks, installing solar panels and water tanks.
OSMTH welcomes the opportunity to assist these Christian communities at risk in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, as they seek to recover from the impacts of the coronavirus-related restrictions on travel and social contacts.
