OSMTH Charitable Donations: Armenian Patriarchate in the Old City of Jerusalem
Simon LeFevre, Almoner General

OSMTH recognises the unique longevity and continuity of the Christian presence of the Armenian Patriarchate in the Old City of Jerusalem. OSMTH honours the role that the Armenian Apostolic Church plays in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. OSMTH is also deeply grateful for the spiritual protection which His Beatitude Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, has extended to our Order.

OSMTH notes the efforts made by the Armenian Christian community to support educational establishments in Jerusalem. Sts Tarkmanchatz School (the School of the Holy Translators) is located in the Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem and provides primary and secondary education for both female and male students. The School was established in 1929, under the jurisdiction of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and has educated over 2,000 pupils since then.

The 2,000 Euro donation from OSMTH is being used:

  • to help the Sts Tarkmanchatz School in Jerusalem to pay for books, equipment, internet access, and/or other teaching aids, which OSMTH anticipates will be of lasting benefit to a wide spectrum of the school’s pupils and assist with the school’s resumption of teaching as the coronavirus-related restrictions on movement are relaxed.
